    HOLMEN — Irene H. Trocinski, 88, of Holmen, passed away peacefully Monday, March 11, 2013, surrounded by her family at her home after a short bout with cancer.
    She was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Chaseburg, Wis., to Carl and Theresa Manske. Irene was baptized at St. Peter’s Church in Chaseburg and confirmed at First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse, where she remained a lifetime member. She married Donald C. “Don” Trocinski on Nov. 12, 1946, at First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Irene was employed by La Crosse Telephone Company from 1943 until 1946. On March 2, 1947, Irene and Don moved to their farm in Long Coulee where they lived and farmed until their retirement. The Lord blessed them with four wonderful children. They were very proud of their farm and their herd of Over-View Registered Holsteins. Irene worked side by side with her husband on the farm for over 50 years, especially enjoying working with the cattle. She was the general leader for the Long Coulee 4-H club for 25 years, a lifetime member of First Ev. Lutheran Church Ladies Aid serving as president and treasurer, a member of the Long Coulee Homemakers, and a member of the Morris-Snuggerud American Legion Post 284 Ladies Auxiliary serving at the Holmen Korn Fest Chicken-Q for many years. Irene was “the rock of our family” and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
    Survivors include four children, Connie (William) Lewis of West Salem, Rodney (Patricia) Trocinski of Austin, Minn., Lynette (Kenneth) Berg of Barre Mills, and Todd (Andrea) Trocinski of Holmen; 14 grandchildren, Heather (Cade) Brandau of West Salem, Chad Lewis (fiancee, Tammy Ferguson) of Rockland, Tami (Shaun) Mullikin of West Salem, Brendan (Rachel) Trocinski, Heather Trocinski, and twins, Trevor and Tyler Trocinski, all of Austin, Minn., Tracey (Lee) Heath of Barre Mills, Travis Berg of Milwaukee, Tanya Berg of La Crosse, and Christopher, Nickolas, Grace, and Nathaniel Trocinski, all of Holmen; 10 great-grandchildren, Brianna, Mayzee, Dakota, Madalyn, Hayden, Hunter, Alexis, Bradley, Brooklyn, and Nadia; one sister, Carol Ekern of La Crosse; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
    Irene was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Donna (Ardel) Volden; and one brother-in-law, Merlyn Ekern.
    Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, March 16, 2013, at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 West Ave. S., La Crosse, with the Rev. Roger Sachs officiating. Burial will be in Long Coulee Cemetery, Holmen, with the Rev. Shaun Arndt officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Ev. Lutheran Church, La Crosse, Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, Holmen, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.     The family would like to thank Dr. D. Ohlrogge, Dr. S. Chapman, and Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse for their care and comfort in the final weeks of Irene’s life.
