Utah State Highway 12 is truly a terrific drive. In one place we were driving across a ridge perhaps 40 feet wide with a drop off of 1000 feet on both sides. The road goes through places blasted through solid rock with no shoulder, just a shelf with cliffs on both sides of the road. Sweeping vistas and an occasional lush green valley where a creek runs through the dryest land that is useless except for looking at. Around Boulder the land begins to get over 8000 feet and has aspen forests. Very, very cool drive.
